Over the past two decades, NBC has played a pivotal role in numerous initiatives that have profoundly affected our region. In economic development, we commissioned the STP Oil & Gas Study to understand their full contribution to St. Tammany Parish while ensuring strong oversight. We also supported a sales tax for Economic Development Districts in St. Tammany Parish to fund vital infrastructure and job creation.
Transparency and good governance have always been at the heart of our mission. Working with the Metropolitan Crime Commission (MCC), we conducted a thorough review of the St. Tammany Parish justice system, holding various offices accountable. The detailed reports provided insights into the performance of local offices from 2013 to July last year.
Additionally, NBC joined the Coalition for a Stronger Economy (CASE), partnering with 60 other business organizations to support and grow Louisiana’s economy.
Education has always been a cornerstone of NBC’s initiatives. We sponsored studies to compare the performance of the St. Tammany Parish School System with other districts, implementing strategies to enhance educational outcomes for over a decade. We have proudly sponsored the Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA), empowering middle and high school students to conceive and establish their own businesses.
Our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship has led NBC to develop innovative wetland mitigation strategies in collaboration with GNO, Inc. We also opposed the Biggert Waters Act and supported the Homeowners Flood Affordability Act to protect property owners from undue burdens, ensuring our community’s resilience against environmental challenges.
Community engagement is a priority for NBC. We endorsed the renewal of the Criminal Justice Sales Tax millage to sustain funding for vital community services. Our collaborations with the Northshore Community Foundation, regional economic development organizations, and various chambers of commerce have been instrumental in protecting and enhancing the quality of life in our region.
Our new branding signals a renewed commitment to our core values. Our focus continues to be on building a successful Northshore community through collaboration and creativity. We will support investments in infrastructure improvements and economic development projects that set our region up for long-term growth. Our focus on legislative engagement will intensify, representing the voice of our business community at the state and federal levels. We are committed to expanding our partnerships with educational institutions to prepare for the future workforce. Support for environmental stewardship will remain foundational, as we strive to balance development with sustainability.
